General Meeting Minutes

Officers Present: Joe Monaco, Kelvin King and Mary Reed

The Bellwood Neighborhoods Civic League meeting was held at the home of Kevin and Debbie King at 4005 Margaret Circle at 7 pm. President Joe Monaco called the meeting to order. The meeting began with a raffle (the prize was a book, How to win friends” and Zoops gift card) for all those who arrived prior to the 7 o’clock meeting time. The prize winners were Marilyn Russell and John Dicarlo.

The minutes were provided by secretary, Mary Reed. Joe read highlights from the last meeting on September 22, 2015. Frank Gaillard motioned to accept the minutes and seconded by Bob Haack.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kevin King presented the treasurer’s report. He complimented Cheryl Monaco for her diligent campaign to collect annual dues. He presented the proposed budget for 2016. The treasurer’s report will be sent only to households who have paid their dues. Marilyn Russell motioned to accept the treasurer’s report and seconded by Steve Newton. Don Bradford motioned to accept the proposed budget as presented and seconded by Jon Brashears.

Committee Reports:

  • Hospitality chairperson, Marilyn Russell had no new information.
  • Entrance way is maintained by Chuck LeGeyt and John Dicarlo. Mildew has been removed from signage.
  • Cheryl reported that Bellwood Forest needs an additional block captain for the neighborhood and a block captain is needed for Brushhill. The main job for the block captain is the collection of annual dues.
  • Karen Clements didn’t have any updates to website report.

Old Business:

Joe reported that the damaged entrance sign on Walpole had been repaired. Tony Brennan of Atlantic Masonry did a great job. USAA paid the BNCL a total $13,524.81. The cost for the repair work was $11,853.50. This left an additional $1671.31 in the BNCL account. The repair work included upgrading the lights to LED which will save on electrical expenses.   It was suggested to replace the lights on the Margaret Drive entrance to LED lights also.

Joe reported no update on Elbow Road Expansion project.

New Business:

Joe reported the property behind the 7-11 is scheduled for a daycare facility. His property at 4004 Margaret Circle may be affected. He will provide any updates.

A date has been set for the annual picnic in the neighborhood park. It has been set for Sept. 17, 2016. Please contact Cheryl if you are interested in working on the planning committee.

Don Bradford offered a special thanks and gratitude for all the support from neighbors during the loss of his wife, Lisa.

Joe played a BNCL trivia contest. It was a fun learning experience.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tues., May 10th at 7 pm at Joe and Cheryl Monaco’s house (4004 Margaret Circle).
